What is the investigation about?
The Prosecutor General’s Office has launched a criminal investigation into the large-scale falsification of driver’s licenses involving employees of public service centers and other individuals. Authorities say the illegal activity was carried out in an organized and systematic manner.
Where were the fake licenses issued?
Investigators established that more than 1,200 citizens were issued forged driver’s licenses in eight regions, including Tashkent city and the Surkhandarya, Samarkand, Syrdarya, Namangan, Navoi, Andijan, and Kashkadarya regions.
What consequences did the fake licenses cause?
According to official analysis, 455 individuals who obtained fake licenses committed a total of 1,305 traffic violations. In addition, 9 drivers were involved in road traffic accidents.
As a result of these accidents, 6 people sustained injuries and 3 people lost their lives. Authorities stress that the use of forged documents poses a serious threat to public and road safety.
How is the investigation being conducted?
Given the scale and complexity of the case, a special investigative and operational task force has been established within the Prosecutor General’s Office. All fake licenses and the documents used to issue them are currently undergoing a comprehensive review.
What warning was issued to the public?
Authorities reminded citizens that driver’s licenses must be obtained strictly in accordance with the law. The use of forged documents is illegal and will result in criminal liability under existing legislation.
