On January 3 at 9:00 PM Moscow time, the winners of the Steam Awards 2025 were officially announced. As in previous years, both nominees and winners were selected by Steam users.
Contrary to recent expectations, the title of Game of the Year 2025 did not go to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 or Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Instead, the award was claimed by the hardcore metroidvania Hollow Knight: Silksong, developed by the Australian studio Team Cherry.
Hollow Knight: Silksong also won the award for “Best Game You Suck At”, making it the only title at Steam Awards 2025 to receive more than one trophy.
The “Most Innovative Gameplay” award went to the evacuation shooter Arc Raiders, while the superhero comedy Dispatch was recognized as “Best Game with Outstanding Story” by Steam users.
The title of Best Game on Steam Deck was awarded to the mythological roguelike Hades 2. Meanwhile, Baldur’s Gate 3, which received its final major update in 2025, won the award in the “Labor of Love” category.
Voting for the Steam Awards 2025 finalists took place during Steam’s Winter Sale, which runs until January 5 at 9:00 PM Moscow time. Discounts are available on most nominated titles and thousands of other games.
