Uzbekistan to Increase Salaries and Pension Benefits for Military Personnel

Uzbekistan has announced new measures aimed at improving the financial support of military personnel. Starting from April 1, the service bonus paid to officers of the Ministry of Defense with long years of service will be doubled.

At the same time, the monthly salaries of contract-based enlisted soldiers and sergeants will be increased by 10 percent. These steps are intended to strengthen the social protection system for military servicemen.

The decision was announced by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a meeting of the Security Council held on January 13. The meeting focused on enhancing the country’s defense capacity and improving living and service conditions for military personnel.

According to the President, the monthly wages of civilian employees working in regional defense administrations and departments will rise by 20 percent this year, followed by an additional 50 percent increase next year.

Pension provision for long-serving military personnel will also be improved. For servicemen who have served more than 30 years in the Armed Forces, the share of monthly salary taken into account when calculating pensions will be increased from 75 percent to 100 percent.

In addition, the scope of housing construction for military personnel will be expanded as part of broader social support measures. These initiatives aim to improve living conditions both during service and after retirement.

Following the meeting, responsible authorities were instructed to draft a law regulating military pension provision and submit it to parliament for consideration.
