A tragic incident has been reported in Uzbekistan’s Navoi region. A man, irritated by the crying of his infant son, resorted to an extremely cruel and dangerous method of what he considered “soothing.” He forced a sock into the child’s mouth.
The foreign object completely blocked the baby’s airways, leading to acute respiratory failure. The infant began to turn blue due to oxygen deprivation and subsequently lost consciousness.
The five-month-old boy was rushed to a medical facility in a state of clinical death. Doctors in the intensive care unit fought for the child’s life for five consecutive days, applying all possible resuscitation measures. Despite their efforts, the infant’s heart eventually stopped.
According to representatives of the local mahalla, the suspect had been living in a second marriage. The man has since been detained and is currently under arrest.
Law enforcement authorities have classified the father’s actions under Article 104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which pertains to the intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm. An official investigation is ongoing.
