Uzbekistan Increases Import Duties on Small-Engine Cars Starting 2026

Starting January 1, 2026, Uzbekistan has officially ended preferential customs duties on the import of small-engine passenger vehicles. The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade.

The preferential regime was introduced in June 2023 under a decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Under this policy, until the end of 2025, vehicles with engine capacity up to 1,000 cc were imported with zero customs duty, while cars with engines up to 1,200 cc were subject to a reduced 5% duty.

As of 2026, imported small-engine vehicles are now taxed under general customs rules applicable to cars with engine capacity of less than 2 liters. The new import duty is set at 15% of the customs value plus 40 US cents for each cubic centimeter of engine capacity.

According to data from the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, automobile sales in the country totaled 101.1 thousand units in November, marking a 10% decline compared to October.

At the same time, demand for imported vehicles continued to grow. Monthly sales reached 5,000 units, reflecting a 11.1% month-on-month increase.
