What agreement has been signed?
Uzbek agricultural specialists have been granted official access to the U.S. labor market. The Migration Agency of Uzbekistan has signed its first direct agreement with the American company USA Farm Labor to organize the recruitment of seasonal workers.
What are the working conditions?
Under the agreement, Uzbek citizens will be able to work on farms and ranches in the United States for up to 10 months. The expected monthly salary is around $3,500. Employers will also provide accommodation for workers.
How will candidates be selected?
Recruitment will be carried out through the H-2A non-immigrant visa program. Priority will be given to applicants who have verified qualifications and experience in the agricultural sector.
How did the partnership begin?
The foundation for this cooperation was established during virtual negotiations held last week. Migration Agency head Behzod Musaev discussed hiring mechanisms with USA Farm Labor founder Manuel Fick. The signed agreement allows for the immediate launch of the project’s next phases. The company has been operating since 2003, providing services ranging from workforce recruitment to visa support and accommodation.
Why is this initiative important?
Diversifying labor migration destinations has been identified as a national priority. Earlier this year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed officials to begin talks with the U.S. to include Uzbekistan among countries supplying seasonal workers. Similar efforts are ongoing with Oman, Japan, and several European nations. For example, the Czech Republic has agreed to provide 150 annual quotas for Uzbek workers.
What are the economic outcomes?
According to Uzbekistan’s Central Bank, remittances from the United States increased by 15% in 2025, reaching $665 million. This accounts for more than 3.5% of the total volume of international transfers to the country.
