A serious crime involving a planned contract killing was prevented in the Davlatabad district of Namangan region. During a special operation, law enforcement officers detained a woman who allegedly planned to have her husband killed for money. The information was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

How did authorities learn about the murder plot?

According to officials, on March 4 оперативe information was received indicating that a woman living in Davlatabad district intended to arrange the murder of her husband through an unknown individual in exchange for $6,000. Investigators later found that she had previously conspired with her lover to organize the crime.

What plan did the suspects discuss with the hitman?

During the investigation it was revealed that the suspects communicated with a supposed contract killer through Telegram. The woman explained that her husband often drove alone in his Cobalt car. She suggested that the killing should take place in a remote area along the “Andijan–Namangan” highway and that the vehicle should then be set on fire. In return, she promised to pay $6,000.

How did law enforcement carry out the operation?

Officers from the State Security Service, the regional Department of Internal Affairs, and the regional prosecutor’s office conducted a joint special operation. As part of the plan, the murder of the intended victim was staged.

The undercover “hitman” recorded the staged scene and presented the footage to the suspects as proof that the job had been completed.

How were the suspects caught?

After watching the video, the woman believed that her husband had actually been killed. She and her lover then handed over $5,500 out of the agreed $6,000 to the supposed hitman. At that moment, officers detained them with the money as evidence.

What legal actions are being taken now?

A criminal case has been opened under the relevant clauses of Articles 25 and 97 (Part 2) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The suspects have been detained in accordance with procedural regulations, and preliminary investigative actions are currently underway.
