Criminal Case Opened in Fergana Over Crime Against 14-Year-Old Girl

A criminal case has been initiated in the Uchkuprik district of the Fergana region following a crime committed against a 14-year-old minor. Several individuals have been detained as suspects, and a custodial preventive measure has been applied.

According to preliminary information circulated on social media, the incident took place on January 9, 2026. It has been reported that the individuals suspected of involvement were born in 2002.

The National Agency for Social Protection told Kun.uz that the case was opened under Article 118, Part 3, Clause “a” of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

At present, the Uchkuprik district internal affairs department is conducting initial investigative procedures within the framework of the criminal case. The suspects were detained in accordance with legal procedures.

The investigation is being monitored by the leadership of the National Agency for Social Protection in close cooperation with law enforcement authorities. Individuals found guilty will be held criminally liable in accordance with the law.

In parallel, specialists from the “Inson” Social Services Center are providing psychological and legal assistance to the victim.

The Children’s Ombudsman also confirmed that the suspects have been taken into custody, while emphasizing that public disclosure of detailed information related to the case would contradict the best interests of the minor.

The Ombudsman noted that the criminal case was initiated promptly, investigative actions are ongoing, and continuous monitoring is being carried out with a focus on protecting the rights and interests of the child.

It was further stressed that the widespread dissemination of personal information related to minors in the media may cause harm to their rights and well-being.

Earlier, a similar incident involving minors was also reported in the Surkhandarya region.
