Ahead of Uzbekistan’s 33rd Independence anniversary, the Republican Specialized Oncology Center will begin operating in a newly built modern complex in Tashkent. On August 29, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the facilities and capabilities of the center.
The complex was built from scratch on an area of over five hectares, based on international best practices, including experience from leading South Korean clinics. It consists of nine buildings designed to ensure comfort for patients and efficient working conditions for medical staff.
The center’s capacity has significantly increased. It now offers 650 inpatient beds and 80 day-care beds, compared to 370 previously. The outpatient department will be able to serve up to 500 patients per day.
The hospital is оснащен with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment equipment, allowing for early detection of cancer and more effective care. High-tech surgical procedures, including minimally invasive operations and bone marrow transplantation, will be introduced.
For the first time, a nuclear medicine and modern radiation therapy department has been launched, ensuring continuous and precise treatment.
The center’s operations will be fully digitalized. Patients will be able to schedule appointments in advance, avoid long queues, and receive coordinated care through a unified electronic system connecting regional oncology hospitals and a national cancer registry.
The opening of the new oncology center is expected to significantly improve cancer diagnosis and treatment outcomes, reduce mortality rates, and contribute to the development of medical tourism in Uzbekistan.
