Barcelona Thrash Athletic Club 5–0 to Reach the Spanish Super Cup Final

Barcelona delivered a commanding performance as they dismantled Athletic Club 5–0 in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final, securing their place in the final with a display of complete control. From the opening minutes, the Catalan side imposed their rhythm and left no room for doubt about the outcome.

The match quickly became one-sided. Ferran Torres opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, before Fermín López doubled the advantage eight minutes later. Roni Bardghji then struck in the 34th minute, effectively settling the contest before half-time.

Barcelona continued their attacking onslaught before the break, with Raphinha adding a fourth goal in the 38th minute. The pattern remained unchanged after the interval, and in the 52nd minute Raphinha completed his brace, putting the result beyond any question.

Athletic Club spent most of the game under sustained pressure and struggled to build meaningful attacks. With only 20% possession, the Basque side found it difficult to escape Barcelona’s dominance and create genuine scoring opportunities.

The statistics reflected Barcelona’s superiority: 14 shots compared to Athletic Club’s 9, with 9 shots on target against 4. Possession stood at an overwhelming 80% in favour of Barcelona, while corner kicks were evenly split at 5–5 and fouls recorded at 6–7.

This emphatic victory highlighted Barcelona’s attacking depth and the growing influence of their young players. For Athletic Club, the semi-final marked the end of their Super Cup campaign, while Barcelona moved one step closer to lifting the trophy.
