Laporta Confirms Major Barcelona Transfer: Joao Cancelo Set to Return

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has officially confirmed the club’s imminent signing of Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo. The defender will join the Catalan side on loan from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal until the end of the current season.

According to Laporta, Cancelo is expected to arrive at the club in the coming days, where he will undergo a mandatory medical examination. Upon completion, the player will formally become part of Barcelona’s squad.

Cancelo will arrive tomorrow and undergo his medical. He will be with us. This is another success for Deco. Signing players in this market is never easy, but our sporting director has done an excellent job,” Laporta stated.

It is also reported that Barcelona managed to win the competition for the player ahead of Inter Milan, who were also strongly interested in securing Cancelo’s services.

It is worth noting that Joao Cancelo previously played for Barcelona on loan during the 2023/24 season, where he left a positive impression with his performances.
