Additional Days Off and Holiday Adjustments Approved for 2026
Decree introduces 10 additional days off and revised holiday arrangements
Under the presidential decree, December 31, 2025 is declared a day off for all employees, regardless of their work schedule.
In 2026, the following additional days off are established:
- For all employees: January 2 (Friday), May 28 (Thursday), May 29 (Friday), August 31 (Monday)
- For employees on a six-day workweek: January 3 (Saturday), May 30 (Saturday), December 31 (Thursday)
In accordance with the Labor Code, public holidays that fall on weekends in 2026 have been moved to Mondays:
- March 8 (International Women’s Day) → March 9
- March 21 (Navruz) → March 23
- May 9 (Day of Remembrance and Honor) → May 11
The decree specifies that these changes do not apply to work that cannot be suspended due to production, technical, or organizational conditions, including continuous operations, essential public services, and shift-based work.
For employees on a five-day workweek, the day off originally scheduled for Saturday, December 12 has been moved to Thursday, December 31, 2026.
To support meaningful leisure during extended holidays, government bodies and state-owned companies are encouraged to introduce discounts and promotional campaigns for:
- Tourist attractions, cultural heritage sites, museums, and hotels
- Sanatoriums and health resorts
- Domestic air and rail transport services
