2026 — A Year of Major Transformation Across All Sectors
Based on the Address of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis and the People of Uzbekistan
On December 26, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered his annual Address, stating that 2026 will be a decisive year in the country’s development. Reforms implemented over the past nine years have significantly strengthened the economy, social protection, and Uzbekistan’s international standing.
Key Results in 2025:
- Gross Domestic Product: $145 billion
- Exports: $33.4 billion (up 23%)
- Gold and foreign exchange reserves: over $60 billion
- Foreign investment attracted: $43.1 billion
- Unemployment rate: 4.9%
- Poverty rate reduced to: 5.8%
- 1.5 million people lifted out of poverty
Key Priorities for 2026:
- Community (Mahalla) development — improving infrastructure and social cohesion
- Innovative economy — technology, artificial intelligence, and industrial growth
- Domestic demand support — housing, services, and tourism
- Skills and education — vocational training and labor market modernization
- Environmental sustainability — green energy, water efficiency, and electric transport
- Public administration and justice — digital governance and strong anti-corruption measures
The President proposed declaring 2026 as the “Year of Mahalla Development and Social Advancement.”
The main goal is to place Uzbekistan among upper-middle-income countries in the coming years and ensure that every citizen feels the impact of reforms in daily life.
