Why Has IJF President Marius Vizer Arrived in Tashkent?

Marius Vizer, President of the International Judo Federation (IJF), has arrived in Tashkent as an honorary guest for the Grand Slam 2026 tournament, scheduled to take place on February 27, 28 and March 1 in the capital of Uzbekistan.

According to NOC, the distinguished official was welcomed at the airport by representatives from the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic Committee, and the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan, highlighting the importance of the event for the country’s sporting community.

Where Will Grand Slam Tashkent 2026 Take Place?

As previously announced, the Grand Slam Tashkent 2026 tournament will be hosted at the Humo Arena multifunctional complex, one of the leading sports venues in Uzbekistan. The arena is expected to welcome athletes, officials, and fans from across the globe.

The competition represents a crucial stage of the International Judo Federation World Tour, significantly influencing the global rankings and playing a key role in the road to Olympic qualification.

Who Will Compete and What Is at Stake?

More than 40 countries are expected to send their top judokas to compete in Tashkent. Over the course of three days, athletes will battle for medals across various men’s and women’s weight categories.

The tournament offers a total prize fund of EUR 154,000, adding further prestige and motivation for participants aiming to strengthen their standing in the international rankings.
